| This sheet contains some frequently
asked questions about autocrossing. If you have any questions that are not
addressed here, or have any other concern, please ask any one of the club
members. They will be happy to help!
Q: How does this autocross thing work?
A: An announcement will be made which will indicate what
vehicle numbers should begin moving to the staging area at the far southeast
corner of the track. Vehicles should line up numerically with the odd number
vehicles in the left lane and even number vehicles in the right. Do not go
onto the track until the starter advises you to do so. Timing will not begin
until you cross the start/finish line. Once you cross that
line, you must make two complete passes across the start/finish line. Once
the two laps are complete, exit the track and proceed to your pit area.
Q: How fast do I need to go?
A: As fast as you feel comfortable. In autocrossing, it
is only you and the clock and the clock doesn't really care how slow or how
fast you go.
Q: What was my time?
A: Lap times will be announced over the P.A. system as each
car finishes their run. Times will be posted on white boards at the
timing stand
and updated throughout the day. Please, do not disturb the timing people
by inquiring about times as they are busy concentrating on the person who
is currently on the track. Times will also be posted on the club
website, www.mustangclubofcentaliowa.org, on the "Past Events Photos" page
within a short time after each event.
Q: What do I win?
A: Nothing. There are no trophies, prizes or the like for
this event. This is 'for fun only'. It is a chance to drive your car in a
controlled environment without fear of breaking traffic laws!
Q: What do I need to bring?
A: First, a Ford or other vehicle in good mechanical condition. Second,
a helmet with a DOT or SNELL (M or SA) date of 1990 or newer. Third, the desire to have a good time! |
